Job Description

We are seeking experienced Federal Civil Litigation Attorneys to contribute their legal expertise to an AI research and development project.

In this role, you will help improve how next-generation AI systems draft, evaluate, and refine legal arguments and court motions. You will apply your practical litigation experience to assess the quality, persuasiveness, structure, and accuracy of AI-generated legal writing.

This opportunity is ideal for practicing attorneys with substantial federal civil litigation experience and a proven track record in successful motion practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and compare AI-generated legal motions, evaluating persuasiveness, structure, clarity, tone, and overall quality.
  • Rank different versions of legal motions and provide clear explanations of your preferences and reasoning.
  • Assess whether AI-generated motions meet professional legal standards and identify areas requiring improvement.
  • Edit and refine legal motions to a ready-to-file standard and provide feedback on revisions.
  • Develop realistic motion-writing assignments based on federal civil litigation scenarios.
  • Create evaluation criteria to measure the quality and effectiveness of AI-generated legal arguments.
  • Apply practical litigation expertise to identify what makes legal writing persuasive, well-structured, and effective in court.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and active U.S. bar membership in good standing.
  • Currently practicing attorney with substantial hands-on experience in federal civil litigation and motion drafting.
  • Proven track record of winning at least three court motions, with supporting court filings available during the screening process.
  • Strong experience drafting substantive motions, including:

    • Motions to Dismiss
    • Motions for Summary Judgment
    • Other substantive federal court filings.
  • Excellent legal research, analytical, and persuasive writing skills.
  • Ability to critically evaluate legal arguments and clearly explain why one approach is more effective than another.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, particularly in legal reasoning, citation accuracy, document structure, and professional writing standards.
  • Experience in appellate litigation or a previous judicial clerkship combined with litigation practice is highly relevant.
